The Chef’s Bar
First, you will be greeted by one of the team when you arrive and quickly offered a welcome drink.
Are you looking to impress? We recommend a glass of Charles Heidsieck Champagne to kick things off.
After your drinks have been delivered, we will bring you over to our Chef’s Bar, which you will be sure to have noticed when you arrive.
The Chef’s Bar is a truly unique addition to our dining experience. You will be welcomed by Dean or another member of our kitchen team to pull up a pew.
Now is the time to sit back, relax and get taken on a culinary journey by our team. They will wow you with tales of all things Haar – talking you through the stories of how we came to arrive at our forever home and how we use our local, seasonal produce in all dishes.
You will enjoy some pre-dinner snacks of oysters and other delights such as Cullen skin tarts, to name a few. All while enjoying a glass of fizz or a delicious cocktail.
The Tasting Menu
Once you have enjoyed your one-of-a-kind Chef’s Bar experience, The team will welcome you into our dining area to enjoy more delicious dishes that Dean and the team have prepared.
The storytelling does not stop there, though. Each dish is comprehensively explained by one of the team – enlightening you on where precisely each ingredient is from, how the dish was made and the best way to enjoy each one too.
Our tasting menu is offered in five- and six-course iterations, with many favourites, both old and new, available to enjoy.
Expect delights like Loch Etive trout with brown crab galangal curry, Beech Ridge farm duck with miso king oyster and black garlic, or yukhoe tartare with Thai basil and kimchi.
Of course, it wouldn’t be a visit to Haar without trying Chef Dean Banks’ signature lobster dish. Oak-smoked lobster with a mirin and dulse butter sauce. The lobsters are caught but metres from the restaurant – right in St. Andrews Bay!
Our famous hand-dived scallops are available all summer – served with kosho, pumpkin and lemongrass. A true flavour bomb that we are proud to offer.
